June 2021 Updates

Hey Coaches, 

Just wanted to give a quick recap of what we discussed last night. 
1.  Reclassification– We determined the best way to reclassify the NCHSAA moving forward is for 3 classifications and then subdivided into 6 when the playoffs start.  Each sport will be subdivided and there will be 6 state champions.  This is the idea that we will use going forward unless there is a better option.  We will present this to the NCFCA as our suggestion for how to change in the future.  To see how that would look please look at this Google Sheet. 
2.  Johnnie Magbie Scholarship– Starting next year we will give a $500 scholarship in remembrance of Johnnie Magbie (West Brunswick football player who passed on May 9th).  To qualify for the scholarship a player must be: 

• Four Year Football Participant of an Eastern North Carolina High School
• Participated in Eastern North Carolina FCA Team Camp with his High School
• Exudes Qualities of Leadership, Scholarship, Selflessness
• Passes on the recommendation of his Head Football Coach
• Attending any type of college

3. Greensboro Golf Outing:On Tuesday, July 20th, we are planning to have a golf outing at a Greensboro golf course after lunch. We want to gauge interest to see how many want to attend. If a friend or relative wants to play that is fine as well. If we have enough participants we will have a superball format. If you are interested in playing golf in Greensboro on July 20th after lunch, please fill out this Google Form. After playing we plan on going to Hooters for the rest of the evening.
4. January Clinic: We plan on having the January clinics one of the last two weeks of the Month. It will be at the Holiday Inn as usual. Final details will be coming out as we get closer.
5. Weightlifting Competition: There has been some interest in a weightlifting completion out of season. As we check on the legalities of the events, we will provide more information later.
